Making your first moves in Pinball

Try Pinball at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Reach 1,500 points before three balls drain. Use the example below to understand a decision. Read the objective before making your first input. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

A small practice goal

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Refer to the controls when needed.

What the game asks you to do

Reach 1,500 points before three balls drain. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

From the start of a round

1. Start to launch.
2. Use the two flippers.
3. Bumper collisions score.
4. Launch remaining balls after a drain.

Keyboard and screen controls

Hold Left/Right flipper or arrow keys. Start / pause and New round are available. Use the control method described here for this activity. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

One way to understand the rules

Activate the flipper when the ball reaches its active surface. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Verify the rule before continuing.

A common point of confusion

A drained ball cannot be rescued. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
